What Tree Removal Actually Means

Tree removal is the full takedown of a tree from your property — trunk, limbs, debris, and (if you want) the stump. We do it whether the tree is healthy and just in the wrong spot, dead and dangerous, or already on the ground from a storm. The job involves climbing or boom truck access, controlled limb-by-limb cutting near structures, careful felling in open spots, and full cleanup of the wood and limbs. We bring our own bucket truck, climbing gear, chipper, and crane access when the job calls for it.

When You Need Tree Removal

If you're seeing any of these signs, it's time to call:

How We Do Tree Removal

  1. Step 1: On-site walk-through. We come look at the tree, the access, and the obstacles. Free estimate, no obligation. You get a real number based on the actual job, not a guess over the phone.
  2. Step 2: Plan the drop or climb. Tight space? We climb and rig limbs down piece by piece. Open yard? Sometimes a clean fell is faster and cheaper. We pick the safest method for your specific tree.
  3. Step 3: Drop zone setup + utility check. Tarps go down to protect grass and beds. Utilities get traced. Anything fragile near the work zone gets covered or moved.
  4. Step 4: Take the tree down. Climber or bucket truck operator works top-down with rigging when needed. Ground crew clears limbs to the chipper as they come down.
  5. Step 5: Buck the trunk, chip the limbs. Trunk gets cut into manageable rounds. All branches go through the chipper into our truck. Wood you want to keep stays on-site, stacked where you ask.
  6. Step 6: Full cleanup. We rake, blow the work zone, and haul off everything you don't want. No sawdust pile, no leftover limbs in the yard, no surprise bill.

What Tree Removal Costs

$500-$2,500 typical

Most residential tree removals in the Dubuque area land between $500 and $2,500. Big oaks near the house with rigging required can go higher. Small dead trees in open yards can be lower. Stump grinding is priced separately.

What changes the price:

Estimates are always free. We come look, walk you through what it takes, and give you a real number. No pressure.

How Long It Takes

Most single-tree removals take half a day to a full day. Big multi-tree jobs or heavy rigging work can run 2-3 days. We give you a realistic time window when we quote.

What's Left After

Yard raked, work zone blown out, all chipped material hauled away, no ruts in the lawn unless equipment was unavoidable. Wood you keep is stacked where you said. We don't leave a mess — your neighbors shouldn't be able to tell we were there except for the missing tree.

Frequently Asked: Tree Removal

Do you handle emergency tree removal?

Yes. 24-hour emergency response for storm damage, trees on houses, trees on cars, or anything blocking a driveway or road. Call 563-580-4175 — emergencies don't wait for business hours.

Will my homeowner's insurance cover tree removal?

Sometimes. If the tree fell on your house, garage, fence, or car during a storm, insurance usually covers removal up to a limit. If the tree is just dead in the yard, it's almost always your responsibility. We can give you an itemized estimate to submit if you're filing a claim.

Do you grind the stump too?

We can — but it's priced separately. Most removals don't include stump grinding by default. If you want the stump gone too, just say so and we'll include it in the quote.

What happens to the wood?

Default is we haul it away and chip the limbs. If you want firewood-sized rounds left behind, just tell us — we'll stack them wherever you want at no extra charge.

Are you insured?

Yes. Fully licensed and insured in Iowa. We can show proof of insurance before the job starts if you want it.

Do you remove trees in winter?

Yes — actually winter is often a great time. Frozen ground means less yard damage from equipment. Trees are dormant so there's less mess. And we have more availability than during storm season.
