What Storm Damage Cleanup Actually Means

Storm damage cleanup is the emergency response side of tree work. After a storm — straight-line winds, ice, heavy snow, or tornado — trees and limbs end up in places they shouldn't be: on roofs, across driveways, hung up in power lines, blocking roads. We're set up for it. 24-hour phone, full equipment fleet, crane access for the heavy stuff, and direct experience working with insurance adjusters when claims are involved. Iowa storms hit hard. We're built for them.

When You Need Storm Damage Cleanup

If you're seeing any of these signs, it's time to call:

Not sure? Call us at 563-580-4175 and describe what you're looking at. We'll tell you straight if it needs work or not.

How We Do Storm Damage Cleanup

  1. Step 1: Phone triage. When you call, we ask three things: is anyone hurt, is it on a structure or vehicle, are power lines involved. That tells us how fast we move and what equipment we bring.
  2. Step 2: Make it safe first. First crew on-site secures the area. If power lines are involved, we coordinate with the utility — we don't touch live lines. If the tree is unstable, we rig it before cutting.
  3. Step 3: Document for insurance. Before we cut anything, we take photos of the damage from every angle. You'll have what you need to file an insurance claim. We give itemized estimates that adjusters accept.
  4. Step 4: Cut and remove. Tree comes off the structure or out of the path in pieces, rigged when needed. We work with crane access for big stuff that's still up in the air or on a roof.
  5. Step 5: Tarping if needed. If your roof has a hole, we can tarp it the same day to keep more rain out while you wait on a roofer. Not a roof repair — just a stop-the-bleeding move.
  6. Step 6: Full cleanup. Limbs chipped, debris hauled, work zone raked. We leave the area as clean as we can given the chaos the storm caused.

What Storm Damage Cleanup Costs

$500-$5,000+ depending on damage

Storm damage costs vary wildly. A single limb across a driveway might be $300. A full tree on a house with crane access is often $3,000-$5,000+. Insurance often covers it when the tree fell on a structure or vehicle — we'll work directly with adjusters and provide documentation.

What changes the price:

Estimates are always free. We come look, walk you through what it takes, and give you a real number. No pressure.

How Long It Takes

Emergency response: usually on-site within 2-4 hours of your call during a storm event, sometimes same hour. Cleanup itself: most jobs are 4-8 hours. Major damage (tree fully through a house): can run 1-3 days.

What's Left After

Tree off, debris gone, work zone raked, photos taken before-during-after for your records. We don't leave tarps unless you ask — we'd rather you get a roofer in to do it right.

Frequently Asked: Storm Damage Cleanup

Do you actually answer the phone at 2 AM?

Yes. 24-hour emergency means 24-hour. Storms in Dubuque don't care what time it is, and neither do we. Call 563-580-4175 — Matt picks up.

Will my insurance cover storm tree damage?

Usually yes if the tree hit something covered (house, garage, fence, car). They'll typically pay for tree removal up to a limit (often $500-$1,500) plus the structural repair. We provide itemized estimates that adjusters accept and photos of the damage.

What about trees that just fell in the yard?

If a tree falls and doesn't hit anything, insurance usually doesn't cover removal — that's on you. We'll still come out and clear it, but the bill comes to you not the insurance company.

Can you tarp a roof?

Yes — same-day if needed to keep more rain out while you wait on a roofer. We don't repair roofs, just temporary tarping to stop water damage.

How fast can you get there?

Most calls during storm events: 2-4 hours. If we're already out on another emergency, we'll tell you straight what the wait looks like. We don't promise times we can't hit.

Do you work directly with insurance adjusters?

Yes. We've done dozens of storm-claim jobs in the Dubuque area. We send adjusters itemized estimates, photo documentation, and final invoices in formats they accept.
